Standard & Specialty Cold Headed Products

Abbott Interfast specializes in the manufacturing of standard and specialty precision cold headed products complete per customer specifications. Cold head products are created by “cold forming”, a manufacturing process by which wire is fed into a cold heading machine, cut to a pre-determined length, inserted into a die and upset to form a part. This process creates little to no waste. The cold heading process creates a stronger part due to the enhanced grain flow of the material.

Benefits of Cold Headed Parts

  • Cold headed parts can reduce the need for secondary finishing because cold form products are solid and durable
  • They are more economical
  • The hardening of metal caused by pressure can increase tensile strength
